Did you know that, according to the National Association For Continence, 13 million Americans are incontinent and that 85% of them are women?  More recent consumer research reveals that one in four women over the age of 18 experience episodes of leaking urine involuntarily. One in five adults over age 40 are affected by overactive bladder or recurrent symptoms of urgency and frequency, a portion of whom don’t reach the toilet before losing urine.

Dr. Roger Beyer, of Women’s Health Care Specialists, attended the prestigious AAGL 40th Global Congress of Minimally Invasive Gynecology.  The AAGL whose vision is to serve women by advancing the safest and most efficacious diagnostic and therapeutic techniques that provide less invasive treatments for gynecologic conditions through integration of clinical practice, research, innovation, and dialogue, hosts this meeting to promote the latest advances in the field of pelvic medicine.  According to Dr. Beyer being a member of the AAGL and attending these conferences is both a priviledge and a duty as it keeps physicians up to date on new procedures and advances and “allows me to be a better physician to my patients”.  For more information on AAGL’s conference click here:  AAGL.org

In August, Dr. Roger Beyer joined many highly esteemed colleagues in Glaskow for the 41st Annual Meeting of the International Continence Society.  The ICS Annual Meeting is certainly one of the most valued dates in the Urological, gynecological, physiotherapy and nursing calendar attracting in excess of 3,000 delegates from all corners of the globe, and unique with its multi-disciplinary focus on Continence. The International Continence Society is a registered charity with a global health focus which strives to improve the quality of life for people affected by urinary, bowel and pelvic floor disorders by advancing basic and clinical science through education, research, and advocacy.

Both Dr. Beyer and Sue attended this year’s winter meeting of the Society for Urodynamics and Female Urology in Phoenix.

The purposes of this Society are to improve the art and science of Urology through basic and applied clinical research in urodynamics and neurourology, voiding function and dysfunction, female urology and pelvic floor dysfunction, and to disseminate and teach these concepts.
