The North American Menopause Society (NAMS) has announced the publication of its new 2010 position statement on osteoporosis. A press release about its contents is also available. The position statement appears in the January/February issue of Menopause. Did you know that, according to the National Association For Continence, 13 million Americans are incontinent and that 85% of them are women? More recent consumer research reveals that one in four women over the age of 18 experience episodes of leaking urine involuntarily. One in five adults over age 40 are affected by overactive bladder or recurrent symptoms of urgency and frequency, a portion of whom don’t reach the toilet before losing urine.

Dr. Roger Beyer, of Women’s Health Care Specialists, attended the prestigious AAGL 38th Global Congress of Minimally Invasive Gynecology. The AAGL whose vision is to serve women by advancing the safest and most efficacious diagnostic and therapeutic techniques that provide less invasive treatments for gynecologic conditions through integration of clinical practice, research, innovation, and dialogue, hosts this meeting to promote the latest advances in the field of pelvic medicine. According to Dr. Beyer being a member of the AAGL and attending these conferences is both a priviledge and a duty as it keeps physicians up to date on new procedures and advances and “allows me to be a better physician to my patients”. Many of the country’s top physicians in the field of female pelvic health, including Dr. Roger Beyer, attended the AUGS 30th Annual Scientific Meeting held by the American Urogynecologic Society September 24th-26th. Each year attending physicians and others interested in women’s health come to learn the latest from female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery experts and meet with others who share their interest in urogynecology and female urology.
